Pinterest David Jensen/PA Wire via ZUMA Press; Jerod Harris/Getty Images Michael Douglas has apologized to Val Kilmer for claiming that his fellow actor was battling oral cancer, the Top Gun star shared late Tuesday night. “Michael Douglas wrote me a nice note apologizing for suggesting to the press overseas I ‘wasn’t doing too well…’ and was grateful to hear I am doing well,” Kilmer, 56, wrote on Facebook. “He’s a classy guy.” Kilmer then recounted meeting Douglas, 72. “[Director] Oliver Stone insisted I meet him, knowing what Michael would say about Oliver torturing him during Wall Street,” Kilmer recalled, mentioning the duo’s 1987 movie. “It was hilarious and Oliver was relishing reliving Michael’s pain. Douglas, who beat stage 4 oral cancer in 2013, sparked concern for Kilmer’s health after stating his onetime costar was “a wonderful guy who is dealing with exactly what I had, and things don’t look too good for him” at a Q&A in London last month. Just days later, Kilmer responded to the rumors by declaring he has “no cancer whatsoever.” After being referred to a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump on his throat, Kilmer says he was declared cancer-free by a team at UCLA. “I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily,” the actor wrote in his post. Kilmer previously denied he has cancer amid reports about his health problems over the past few years. In October 2015, he vehemently denied that he had a tumor after being spotted at the UCLA Medial Center. Months later, in December, concern arose over Kilmer’s health when he was seen with what looked to be a tracheostomy tube around his neck. He was also spotted on multiple occasions covering his neck with scarves and bandanas. Earlier this year, the actor was photographed running errands in London without any breathing aid.
