DIY all natural cleaning spray with just 2 ingredients!

Ever since I learnt about the ill effects of chemicals used in most products of daily use, I have been trying to cut out processed and chemical laden products from my house. I have switched to organic food, try to use natural ingredients for cleaning my face and even to take a bath. What irked me the most was the cleaning sprays that I used. With every spray, I can visualise all the chemicals getting released in the air, and sitting on every surface that I ‘cleaned’. So what could I do? Cleaning sprays have become indispensable, and most do a great job in shining up furniture, kitchen tops and glass surfaces. Not to forget the sinks and washbasins that need to be cleaned and sanitised every day. This is why I was over the moon when I stumbled upon a DIY, all natural cleaning liquid that uses only 2 ingredients. I have been using since a couple of months and would recommend it to everyone. Follow these steps to make your own DIY cleaning spray. Ingredients 1. Citrus peels — I used mostly lemon peels, and a few orange peels too. 2. Vinegar 3. Water — optional Method In a clean glass jar, collect your citrus peels. Make sure to discard the seeds, but you can retain the pith. Once the jar is full, fill it with vinegar. The vinegar should soak the peels completely. Leave it to soak for 2 weeks. Do not use an airtight container, or even if you do, let the lid sit a little loose to let the air pass. After 2 weeks, strain the liquid using a cheesecloth or a very fine mesh strainer. Collect the liquid, which should have an orange or yellow tint, depending on the peels you used. The cleaning liquid is ready. Fill it in spray bottles and use as required. You can dilute it with water if needed. Many people use this liquid instead of detergent too. I haven’t, if you do, please share your feedback in the comments below. Image: Shutterstock
